Professional History
Dr. Heather Hefner has over 25 years’ experience working within the mental health field with an emphasis in behavioral therapy, school psychology, diagnostic assessments and evaluating, individual counseling, grief therapy, mindfulness, and crisis management. In addition to this, Dr. Hefner has over 15 years of experience as an educator teaching 8 years full-time at Virginia College, and as an adjunct in the psychology department at various Colleges and Universities throughout Trumbull, Mahoning, & Cuyahoga counties. In addition to PsyCare, she is a Part-time Faculty Member in the Graduate Studies in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at Youngstown State University. She is also an active member of the community receiving awards for humanitarian services. In 2010, she was awarded Honorable Mention for working with survivors of sexual abuse, and in 2013 was the Scholar of Change Recipient for partnering with an after-school program for at risk teens from Walden University. She is also the author of a book titled, Risks of Television Viewing Among Children with and without the ADHD Diagnosis: A quantitative quasi-experimental design to test the strength and relationship between TV and the ADHD diagnosis.
