Specialties
Professional Objectives
“I began my career in the mental health field after discovering my passion for diversity and acceptance. I believe that everyone has value and is deserving of quality care, and I wish to help individuals realize that for themselves. My goal is to destigmatize mental health and advocate for individuals’ rights as humans. Thus, I will always strive to provide an open, positive environment in my office, free of judgement and bias.”
Theoretical Orientation
“When meeting with a client, I believe that it is important to remain present and meet them where they are at, while providing them with empowerment and encouragement. Thus, I tend to employ the basic principles of Person Centered Therapy, while providing additional components of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). As a clinician, I believe that it is vital to provide my clients with appropriate education regarding their diagnosis and treatment, as well as work collaboratively with them on their counseling goals. Further, mindfulness and meditation serve as a crucial part of my therapy interventions, as I believe it is important for clients to be in tune with their emotions and overall body awareness.
As someone who works extensively with children and adolescents, I tend to take a developmental approach. I believe in working closely with the family and other natural supports the child or adolescent may have. It is my belief that counseling needs to go beyond the office and into the homes and daily lives of the client. Thus, the more positive involvement, the more likely a child is to thrive.
