My name is Madison Bayus, BSW LSW. I graduated from Youngstown State University in 2021 with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work. In January 2022, I became licensed in the state of Ohio as a Licensed Social Worker. I am currently working towards my master’s degree in social work at Youngstown State University. I have had the privilege to work in the community since 2021 helping many different kids and families in the school setting. Working in the school setting with children has quickly become a passion of mine. I love being able to assist the children and school staff in identifying strategies to help the kids be the best version of themselves. I look forward to watching the kids grow, mentally, physically, and emotionally throughout their time at the elementary school.
Things to know about me:
Some of my favorite hobbies include taking weekend trips with my husband and two dogs, traveling, and reading. My dream vacation is to Portugal. I adore the colors of the buildings and the rich history. Anyone who meets me will see every photo of my dogs that I have in my camera roll, they are my absolute favorite. I am a lover of all these caffeinated and pink!
What have you learned from working in the mental health field?
In the time that I have worked in the mental health field, I have learned many things. I have learned just how resilient the children in our community are. I have witnessed their unique strengths and adaptive abilities. It is amazing to see them navigate their challenges and grow. Working in the mental health field, has made me learn the importance of self-care. Starting children out young to recognize their mental health as an important part of wellness is vital.
How do you practice self care?
I have a few favorite self-care techniques. I like to be outdoors with my two dogs doing just about anything and I like cozying up on the couch with a nice cup of tea and my favorite shows. Putting time and energy back into yourself is so rewarding. Practicing self-care helps me reduce stress and allows me to give more to the people close to me.
