Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)
M.Ed., Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program, Youngstown State University, 2013
Thomas Zimmerman began his career in a community mental health internship site where he gained experience in diagnostic assessment and evaluation, individual counseling, crisis intervention, and the treatment of clients with profound emotional and thought disorders. After licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor, he began working at PsyCare as an outpatient therapist in September 2014.
“I take a navigational approach with clients that assess where they are and where they want to go. This approach incorporates client assets, liabilities, and values. I use evidenced-based therapeutic approaches that are tailored to fit the needs of each individual client.”
Most of Mr. Zimmerman’s work with clients utilizes Mindfulness-integrated Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for anxiety and depression issues, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) for personality issues, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma treatment.
